Daily Maintenance & Care for Your Thangka

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you sincerely for choosing LAMA'S Thangka and bringing one of our sacred artworks into your life. We are deeply honored that you have entrusted us to share a piece of this profound spiritual and artistic tradition with you. Each Thangka is created with devotion, intention, and the utmost respect for its cultural and religious significance.

Your Thangka is more than a beautiful piece of art; it is a vessel of spiritual energy, mindfulness, and heritage. To help you honor its sacred nature and ensure its longevity, we kindly ask you to observe the following traditional care guidelines:

Important Precautions & Respectful Handling

Sacred Placement: Thangkas are considered sacred objects. Please place yours in a clean, respectful space, ideally at or above eye level. Avoid placing it on the floor, in bathrooms, bedrooms (especially near the feet), or in cluttered areas.

Mindful Handling: Always handle your Thangka with clean hands and a respectful attitude. Avoid touching the painted surface directly, as oils from skin can affect the pigments over time.

Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to strong, direct sunlight can cause the vibrant mineral and organic pigments to fade. Please display your Thangka away from windows with intense sun exposure.

Control Humidity & Temperature: Protect your Thangka from extreme humidity and temperature. High humidity can promote mold, while very dry conditions can make the fabric brittle. Avoid hanging it near radiators, fireplaces, or air conditioning vents.

Proper Storage: If storing, roll the Thangka gently (painted side facing inward) around a sturdy, acid-free tube that is slightly wider than the painted area. Wrap it in clean, natural fabric (like cotton or silk) and store it in a protective box in a cool, dry, dark place. Never fold it.

The Blessings & Benefits of Your Thangka

We believe your Thangka will bring more than beauty to your space:

Spiritual Focus & Meditation: Thangkas are designed as tools for contemplation. Gazing upon the imagery can help calm the mind, deepen focus, and inspire spiritual connection or personal reflection.

Positive Energy & Consecration: Each of our Thangkas has been consecrated through traditional rituals by lamas at the Yonghegong Lama Temple in Beijing. They are traditionally believed to emanate the blessings and qualities of the depicted deities, helping to cultivate peace, compassion, wisdom, and protection in your environment.

Cultural Connection: Owning a Thangka connects you to a rich, ancient artistic and spiritual tradition from the Himalayas. It is a piece of living cultural heritage.

Artistic Inspiration: The incredible detail, symbolism, and craftsmanship offer endless visual interest and serve as a constant source of inspiration.

Simple Care Instructions

Dust gently with a very soft, clean brush (such as a large, soft makeup brush or artist's brush). Do not use any cleaning products, liquids, or cloths.

If professional cleaning or restoration is ever needed, please consult a conservator experienced with Asian textile paintings.

Thank you again for supporting LAMA'S Thangka and for honoring this tradition. We hope your piece brings you profound beauty, peace, and inspiration for many years to come.
